# Wormhole 1.6.0

Released November 1, 2026.

### Added

- A right-click on a file in Changes, or on a file of an opened commit in History, opens a menu: open it in your editor, reveal it in Finder, copy its
path (full or relative) and File History, which limits the History tab to the commits that touched it.
A chip in History's head names the file; clicking it shows every commit again.
⌘-click marks several files; the menu of a marked file then copies all their paths or shows their
  shared history.
- Changes has a view button in its head: List or Tree, and whether untracked files are grouped, the same
  settings as Settings → Git.
- History's branch picker lists Stashes when the repository has some: each stash is a row that opens to its
files and their diffs, like a commit.
- When git refuses a folder because of its owner ("dubious ownership"), Changes and History say so and show
the one command that trusts it, to run yourself, instead of git's bare first line.
- When an update is installed (by the app, or put on disk from outside), a chip says "Wormhole 1.6.0 is
ready — Restart"; a click restarts into it (a click right after the chip appears is ignored). If a
restart would end something, the same question as in Settings → Updates names what. Closing the chip
keeps it quiet, in every window, until the next version. It waits behind a warning on the chip and
  follows the window in front.
- With persistent terminals on, the status bar says where the selected terminal runs: "Persistent" (in a
session host of its own, so it keeps running when Wormhole quits or updates), "Connecting…", or "In app"
in the warning colour (it ends when Wormhole quits or updates). A tooltip says it in a sentence. The
Welcome terminal, which never runs in a session host, shows nothing.
- Wormhole notices when it was updated on disk while it runs (an update made outside the app, such as
Homebrew or a copy from a disk image) and shows it in Settings → Updates as installed, with the same
Restart and Restart When Idle choices as after an update made in the app. A copy of the same version
  does not count.
- Settings → Advanced explains how to add Wormhole to macOS's Developer Tools list, so programs started in
Wormhole skip the malware scan macOS runs the first time each new program runs, with a button to that
  settings page.
- Liquid Glass, as a beta: on macOS 26 and later, Settings → Appearance has a Liquid Glass switch, marked
Beta, that puts glass under the sidebar's and the panel's cards. It is off until you turn it on, and stays
painted while Reduce Transparency or Increase Contrast is on.
- Theme Studio's New Theme starts from a clean slate: a plain light or dark palette, matching the appearance
in use, that depends on no other theme. New Theme From ▸ starts from a theme you pick instead (yours or a
built-in), with that theme's values copied in.
- Each colour in Theme Studio says where it comes from: your own value, the theme it started from, or
worked out by Wormhole's rules; Reset goes back to the theme it started from, and the list can show only
your own values or only that theme's. Update from shows what changed in that theme since you started
from it and applies it only when you say so.
- Theme Studio keeps your earlier saves: Revert To ▸ Browse All Versions… lists them, previews one as you
select it and restores it as an edit you can undo or save.
- A theme can have a light and a dark appearance: Add Dark Appearance (or Light) in the theme menu, a
Light | Dark switch for which one you edit, a chip on each colour for whether an edit goes to both or
only the one shown, and Use with Match system to set both picks at once.
- A theme made by a newer Wormhole says so in Theme Studio and in Settings → Appearance; Studio offers
Duplicate instead of saving over it. While Studio previews a theme that isn't the one in use, a chip says
so, with Use to switch to it.

- Theme Studio's theme menu has Move to Trash… for your own themes, and undo and redo have buttons in the
title row. Moving a theme to the Trash, there or from its card in Settings → Appearance, asks first, and a
theme you use is replaced by the default for its appearance instead of leaving nothing to show.
- Settings → Terminal → Worktrees has a switch, off by default, that starts each new worktree with clones of
the main checkout's ignored `node_modules` and `target` folders, so installs and builds in it start warm.
It works when both are on the same APFS volume; the clones share disk space with the originals until a file
changes, and are left out of Time Machine.

### Changed

- A diff and the Files viewer fill the terminal's surface, without a card and padding inside it. Their
title row holds the file's path (drawn like the terminal's folder, with the same hover card and
right-click menu) and the controls: for a diff the arrows, the counts, wrap and the layout switch.
- Restarting for an update starts the new Wormhole as soon as the old one has quit, instead of after a pause
  of about a second.

### Fixed

- The path's hover card no longer runs its last button to its edge when the path is long, and opens under
the file's name in a diff.
- After a restart, the window that was in front is in front again, not the one opened or revealed last.
- After a restart, a terminal that kept running in its session host and had finished while you were away
shows "Done" again until you look at it, instead of coming back idle.
- After a restart, a window that was minimised comes back minimised, and the window that was in front
before it, not the minimised one, is brought forward.
- The folder's card in the title row has room around its contents, and a long path breaks only between
folders, never inside a name, with the folder's own name stressed.
- Persistent terminals keep working after Wormhole was replaced on disk while it was running (an update made
outside the app, say): a new session host used to refuse the app because its executable was gone, and the
terminal ran inside the app instead. The host now falls back to the kernel's record of the app's
signature. This holds from this version on: the running app must already have the fix.
